Time for Learning – Part 2


Microsoft Learning has recently developed a new learning ‘product’ called ‘MODL.’ Microsoft Official Distance Learning. In fact, it’s one of the most radical products they have developed in a long time.

It’s a combination of online trainer-led session, elearning, practical scenarios, reference materials and assessments. The beauty of the program is that it gives the learners time to absorb the technical subject that they are learning.

The sessions are broken up over a number of weeks (e.g. a five classroom course is held over five weeks). The learners attend two sessions with the instructor each week which last between two and three hours each. In between, they do some elearning, practice on the scenarios and take assessments.

The learners get time to practice and absorb the lessons. They get time to learn and therefore they get more from their training. They can therefore be more effective when they are back in their work place.

For the people buying the MODL training, they gain more from their investment. There are no extra costs like travel and subsistence. Also, their staff are not away for five days at a time, and for companies which rely on their IT support staff, this is very important.
